History

TAT Solid Waste was created in 1988 by the MHA Tribe. It started with a few individuals picking up garbage around the community and disposing it in garbage trucks to be emptied at the tribal landfill. By 2003, the tribal landfill was closed and we began hauling waste to McKenzie County and McDaniel Landfill. Since then that is when the department started making transitions in creating what it is today. It has undergone several changes and upgrades since its establishment, which has been beneficial to the community and its residents.

TAT Solid Waste was created to provide a better way to manage proper refuse disposal that is safe and effective for everyone living on the Fort Berthold Reservation. As the community has grown, it has inspired the department to continuously find new and improved ways of waste disposal but also looking into other methods to conserve resources. We take on the challenge of creating a successful solid waste collection site.  We are the first line of defense for the health and safety of the community and the people.
